I wanted to open LM Studio when I needed it and close it afterwards. For a while, though, it kept coming back after I closed it. I didn't want it sitting in the background while other models needed the computer.
On September 17, we found the cause. The GPU monitor checked LM Studio regularly by calling its command-line tool. That call woke up the application it was supposed to be checking.
The fix was to look for an existing application process first. If LM Studio was open, the monitor could ask about its models. If it was closed, it would report that and stop there.
After the change, we waited through several monitoring cycles. LM Studio stayed closed, and the model already running on the computer was left alone. A small fix, but I could finally trust the closed application to remain closed.
I make background tools so I have fewer things to keep an eye on. When one creates another thing to watch, I have to go back and change it.
